About A J Robinson Contracting

It all started in 2017, with the purchase of the Sumo GLS as a part time enterprise, running alongside a full time job driving for a local agricultural contractor.

From here the business has been gradually built up to where it is today. The first tractor was bought in the following spring of 2018 and a larger tractor to undertake heavy draught work was purchased in spring 2021. During this time the continual investment of implements within the fleet has enabled us to broaden the services available to our customers.

Alex's passion for machinery started at a young age and this continued on through his education at Gelli Aur College where he studied agriculture and further afield to Harper Adams University to study BSc. (Hons) Agriculture with Mechanisation. During this time he spent 15 months on and industry placement with CLAAS UK in a sales and demonstration position at Manns of Saxham in Suffolk.

Following graduation in 2016, Alex went on to work five consecutive harvest seasons in Southland, New Zealand which provided the funds to start and build the business. Here he gained valuable direct drilling experience and lead a silage team on a forage harvester, while working some of the southern most pastures in world.

After a long standing interest in direct drilling, and much research done as part of university work, the purchase of an Erth Agriseeder in spring 2021 was the clear path to take. From this the focus of the business has become direct drilling and the low disturbance and minimum tillage machines fit in well around it providing regenerative farming practices.
